Knitting Jenny Pattern 145: Icelandic Léttlopi Wool Ski Hat is a stranded colorwork ski hat, designed with pure Icelandic sheep wool, which contains special fiber properties to enable knitting yarn that is lightweight, warm, durable, breathable, and water resistant, the perfect textile combination for ski hats. 

The ski hat is knit circularly, and is constructed as follows: 

• Cast on, knit the brim, increase, knit the stranded colorwork of the head, then systematically decrease at the crown.

Knitting Jenny Pattern 145 creates an elastic and flexible ski hat that fits a Size Medium adult head, with instructions for Size Customization.

Knitting Jenny Pattern 145 features 2 shades of Ístex brand Icelandic lopi wool in the léttlopi weight, which is considered a worsted/Aran weight.

The léttlopi put up is 50 gram balls that include approximately 100 meters.

The finished hat weighs approximately 72 grams. The following wool colors and approximate quantities are required: 42 grams of a dark color, and 30 grams of a light color.

The following tools are required:

• 3.5mm, 16 inch circular knitting needle (for the ribbing)
• 5.0mm, 16 inch circular knitting needle (for the stranded colorwork)
• 5.0mm double pointed needles (for the crown)
• Stitch markers
• Darning needle
• Scissors

Knitting Jenny Pattern 145 calls for the following gauge; however, your needle size requirements may vary.

• 23 stitches and 24.25 rows to 4 inches (10 centimeters) over the stranded colorwork, knit circularly with 5.0mm knitting needles, after washing, blocking, drying.

Included is an inverse chart, which is a white-and-black representation of the original black-and-white chart, to enable the knitter to envision personal color preferences.
