Knitting Jenny Pattern 121: Irish Aran Islands Inspired Cabled Headband showcases a classic textured design of integrated cables within cables and a knotted design feature.
The pattern design was influenced by the historic knitting heritage of the Aran Islands, which includes wool traditions of knitting complex patterns with cables and other textured motifs.
Often knit with undyed wool, knitted cables are associated with aspects of the sea and land of the Aran Islands, located approximately 30 miles from the city of Galway, situated on the Atlantic coast of Ireland.
The Aran Islands are an archipelago of three islands: Inis Mór, Inis Meáin, and Inis Oírr. Since the nineteenth century, the people of the Aran Islands have cultivated textured cabled knitting, from which Knitting Jenny Pattern Collection 13 is inspired.
Knitting Jenny Pattern 121 features a natural white shade of Tahki brand Kashmir yarn, which is 75% merino wool, 23% silk, and 2% cashmere.
Alternately, a different wool brand——though similar yarn weight——can be substituted for Knitting Jenny Pattern 121.
The Kashmir put up is 40 gram balls that include approximately 97 meters.
The finished headband weighs approximately 40 grams.
