Everyone and all skill levels are welcome at this workshop!

Learn how to knit cables or perfect your existing cabling techniques.

Jennifer Daley invites you into her home for a knitting workshop, which includes:

  • two balls of hand dyed yarn (80 grams total). There are 9 color options! Choose a color now, or wait until the workshop begins.
  • a one-page printed Knitting Jenny pattern for the cable hat, designed by Jennifer Daley
  • a full day of knitting instruction by Jennifer Daley
  • a delicious lunch of hearty homemade vegetarian soup with artisan bread, served at 12:00 noon
  • afternoon tea and coffee and cake, lovingly prepared from scratch by Jennifer Daley, served at 3:00pm
  • the opportunity to meet new friends in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere
  • the chance to begin knitting the hat pattern and perfect cabling techniques
  • learning how to cable with or without a cable needle, tool, or hook

Students, please bring to the workshop these tools:

  • a 2.5mm, 16-inch circular knitting needle (for the ribbing)
  • a 4.0mm, 16-inch circular knitting needle (for the main hat cabling)
  • a cabling needle or double-pointed needle approximately 4.0mm
  • stitch markers

A note about the wool:

The finished hat weighs 66 grams. There is enough wool in the 80 gram kit to knit the hat longer or larger, if preferred. Or, a small pompon can be made to adorn the crown. If a very large pompon is preferred, then extra matching wool can be purchased at the workshop.

All cable hat kits begin with 80 grams of natural white wool. Each ball is 40 grams.

Please be aware, weighing yarn is not a science. Different rooms and different scales (and the surface onto which the scale is placed) can cause different weights to show on the scale. Why? The moister in the air (which is subsequently absorbed into the yarn) contributes to a potentially higher yarn weight. Conversely, if you are measuring yarn in a very dry climate or room, then perhaps the final weights will be lower.
