The full-day workshop is $120, which includes all knitting instruction, one Knitting Jenny pattern of your choice, and three balls of Jamieson's Spindrift yarn.
Learn Fair Isle knitting with Dr. Jennifer Daley, Fair Isle knitwear designer and textile historian who lived on the Scottish island of Fair Isle, the historic birthplace of Fair Isle knitting.
The workshop includes:
- One Knitting Jenny pattern of your choice
- Three balls of Jamieson's of Shetland Spindrift yarn
- All Fair Isle knitting instruction delivered in person by Jennifer Daley
- Fair Isle knitting tips, tricks, and techniques
- A guided exploration of traditional Fair Isle patterns and motifs
- An explanation of ideal yarn properties for Fair Isle knitting
- A discussion of Fair Isle knitwear design, including color dominance and color theory
- A presentation of Fair Isle textile history and Shetland knitting tools
- A Fair Isle knitted hat-blocking explanation
- A steeking discussion on how and why to safely cut your knitting
