Swirl tam o' shanter
Completed in April 2010

I actually dyed this yarn in November 2007. I love this yarn, and this colorway, which I'm sure I'll never be able to replicate.

I started out with off-white Jamieson & Smith brand yarn, 100% Shetland wool, 2-ply jumper weight.

I dyed each section of the hank, with my favorite Jacquard brand acid dyes, purchased from Dharma Trading Company, which is such a good place to purchase inexpensive dyes.

When dyeing, I specifically left some white sections un-dyed. The goal here was to get a stark contrast to the black heathered yarn.

Here's the finished, dyed yarn all wound up, with a center pull.

Here's the black heathered yarn alongside the dyed yarn.

I'm experimenting with tam patterns, and I wanted to keep this pattern very, very simple since the hand-dyed yarn was so busy.

The diameter of this tam is 12 inches.
