This pattern is the Swallowtail shawl, designed by Evelyn Clark, published in the Fall 2006 issue of Interweave Knits magazine.

This shawl required less than one ball of white Misti Alpaca brand laceweight yarn, 100% baby alpaca, knit on 3.5mm Holz & Stein brand ebony circulars.

I can't say I had fun executing the p5tog st on the lily-of-the-valley border; hence I only knit one repeat, not the two specified in the pattern.

This lace triangular shawl was a pretty quick knit. I do like the deep picot edging.

I wonder, though, if I will ever actually wear this, or if it will remain, like my other lace projects, neatly packed away in acid-free tissue paper.

I've often heard that nothing screams "wedding" more than a white, hand-knit, lace shawl.

I think that's probably accurate. If I were invited to a wedding, I think I would surely wear one of my hand-knit lace shawls.

Speaking of weddings, here are my parents in 1959. Don't they look happy?
