The Blue Diamonds lace shawl
Completed in November 2010

I really like knitting on cone. This is a periwinkle colored merino-silk laceweight yarn purchased at the Stitches West knitting convention in San Francisco, California in 2000.

Yes, this cone has been in my stash for a decade. I'm so ashamed!

This lace pattern is the Blue Diamonds Shawl, designed by Sharon Miller. The pattern is sold on her website, Heirloom Knitting.

The pattern called for knitting till there were 15 diamonds across the top. Of course, I knit till there were 36 diamonds across the top. This shawl is huge.

After aggressive blocking, it has a wingspan of 12 feet. Overall dimensions are 8 x 8 x 12 feet.

After blocking, I rolled it up for storage.

This shawl was knit as a Christmas gift, and here is the happy recipient.
