Ring in the new year, with handknit socks!
Completed in January 2013

This sock yarn is Lana Grossa brand Meilenweit Multiringel. The fiber content is 80% new wool and 20% polymid.

The yarn is machine washable, as is my requirement for sock yarn. When I present socks as gifts, everyone is relieved (the recipient and I) when I say you can toss the socks in the gentle cycle. But, of course, the socks are always to be laid out flat to dry.

There are 420 meters in 100 grams, which makes for a nice, thin sock yarn.

The colorway is #5020.

What a relief, I got the stripes to match perfectly. I ran out of yarn, though, so, for the toes, I used some leftover brown sock yarn in my stash.

The picture below the socks is of the Christmas tree, in the London rain, outside of the fabled Covent Garden. I just love walking through there, on my way home, especially at night when it's all but deserted.

The second picture is of the interior of Covent Garden, with its big Christmas balls hanging from the ceiling, with a sliver view of the Christmas tree outside. London sure knows how to whip up the Christmas spirit.

The last picture is of the massive fireworks display at midnight on New Year's Eve, on the river Thames. I had an excellent vantage point, high above the fracus below. I wish, though, my camera was able to capture the sight. (Perhaps the problem is with the cameraman!) It was so smokey from the boom-boom of the fireworks. In the hazy picture, you can see the river and boats, the London Eye to the left, and the light of Big Ben to the right. What a spectacle!

Happy new year to all! I hope 2013 brings good cheer, great health, and lots of knitting!
