The Sock Centenary
Completed in May 2014

Today is a pivotal moment in my knitting life. I have completed my 100th pair of socks. It's been a long journey but a fun and interesting one, with lots of laughter along the way. I big shout-out goes to all of you who encouraged my sock fetish frenzy. It makes me happy to be a part of our worldwide knitting community.

For this 100th pair of socks, I chose self-striping Regia brand sock yarn. I've always loved this colorway number 05269, which I'd knit up previously in 2007.

I purchased this yarn in a wonderful wool shop on the Isle of Wight, just off Portsmouth on the southern coast of England. The Isle of Wight is one of my all-time favorite getaways with its fabled castle and seaside home of Queen Victoria.

The fiber content of this yarn is 75% wool and 25% nylon, machine washable and endlessly durable. This Regia sock wool holds a ten-year guarantee, which is an interesting marketing tool. I have yet to encounter any holes worn through my Regia socks. At about US$15 per pair and 45 hours to knit, Regia sock yarn is an investment in your foot future.
