Spiderman

Don't you agree that there are some scenes that just needed to be cut? Like, how about the scene were Toby is dancing in the bar? Where he looks like The Cure in the 1980s? It was really too much. There were other things, too, but it's too exhausting to find fault.

This is not a movie for children. I say this knowing that my little nephew has a thing for Spiderman; he loves Spiderman; he watches all the Spiderman movies.

I have strong opinions about how to raise children, and one thing is for sure: movies (and definitely television) are out. Even some of the classic Disney movies horrify me. Have you seen Pinocchio as an adult? It gives me nightmares!

Spiderman is just too graphic and violent and (sometimes) sexy for little kids to watch. But it's ok, though, for little kids to play dress up, without knowing the true nature of the Spiderman character. (Same goes for the Batman movies, but that's another post.) Hypocritical, perhaps, but dress up is a part of childhood.

Despite all this, I do intend to design and knit Spiderman mittens for my nephew Zander which I hope he'll like and wear.
