Perfume: The Story of a Murderer

The upside of this movie were the interesting 18th century French costumes and learning a little bit about how perfume is made. Those were the only good parts. The creepy storyline was akin to Silence of the Lambs. You just can't reason with a psycho. True, but scary. Now I admit, it's difficult for me to make believe; I dislike fantasy of all kinds; I never played with Barbie dolls as a kid; I just didn't understand why you'd want to pretend when you could be outside, doing stuff. I prefer the real world and what's happening right now, or what could possibly realistically occur. So, you can imagine my distress during the scene of the orgy and lesbian lovefest. Are you joking? I was not the only one laughing in the moviehouse. It was just too much, too unbelievable. And lastly, Dustin Hoffman as an Italian in Paris? I couldn't help but detect his New York accent even when he'd say, "Basta!"
