The Pursuit of Happyness

This movie is about the power of perseverence. For that alone, it was interesting to watch. But, the movie reminded me of the many reasons I never liked living in San Francisco. And, it reminded me of what they say, about how behind every successful man is a woman. Now my feminist friends might argue that point (I am definitely not a feminist.), but take a look at the Thandie Newton character in the movie. I believe Chris Gardner (Will Smith) probably would have been successful a whole lot sooner had he had the support of a good woman. Instead, Thandie Newton just complains. What a pain. I really disliked her character. Did you almost cry when they offered him the job? Truth be told, though, even if he didn't get the job, he'd already gone through an intensive internship wherein he landed 31 new accounts, and those facts alone would have gotten him an interview at another firm. By the way, I wish someone would explain to me the issues surrounding the usage of copyrighted songs in movies. I just don’t understand why this movie didn’t have a stronger soundtrack, circa 1981.
