Hairspray

Now I'm a gal who loves musicals. I'm a big fan. I love them. I'm secretly in love with Gene Kelly. Get the picture?

So, you can imagine how eager I was to see this movie. I thought it might be like Grease, but in the sixties. I had a bushel of hope.

During the opening number, though, I almost walked out. This movie was dreadful. I'm sure it'd be a much, much better stage show. In fact, if it came to the West End, I'd probably go and see it.

The redeeming qualities were the dance and the costumes. I love choreographed dance like that. Love it. And the costumes? Great. The dancing dresses? To die for. John Travolta? Amusing.
