All about me

I love going out to the movies. In 2007, I was living in London and had the unlimited movie card, which was a veritable all-you-can-eat buffet, and a true bargain, considering a movie ticket could run 9 pounds (US$18 at the time!) or more around Piccadilly Circus.

And since I don't do television (I have never owned a television; I am very anti-tv) movies serve as my one guilty media pleasure.

Admittedly, new releases tend to disappoint me. They just don't make movies like they used to. I do prefer the great old black-and-white movies, the classics, where everyone is properly dressed and never hatless, such as in:

His Girl Friday

Now, Voyager

Mildred Pierce

or anything with Cary Grant, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, or a dancing Gene Kelly or Ann Miller, such as in the great movie, On The Town.

As far as more "modern" movies, I didn't hate:

Born on the Fourth of July

Carrington

Election

Empire of the Sun

Gattaca

A Home at the End of the World

Muriel's Wedding

Mystic River

Rounders

The Shawshank Redemption

Snow Falling on Cedars

Sophie's Choice
