The inevitable green Santa Claus tree ornament
Completed in January 2011

You knew it was only a matter of time before my Santas turned green. It was inevitable, wasn't it?

I knit this with my favorite Jamieson & Smith brand yarn, 100% Shetland wool, 2-ply jumper weight, with 3.5mm DPNs.

I used white angora, which I am quickly falling in love with.

Oddly, I have quite a bit of white angora in my stash, and I had visions of knitting a 1950s-inspired bolero or shrug with it.

But, I'm finding that a little bit of angora goes a long way. I think angora might be best utilized as an accent, rather than an entire garment.

I am now totally winging the Santa pattern.

It's a bit 'dangerous' to give me some sticks and string and no road map.

This is what happens!

I sewed 10mm round, non-faceted black glass beads as eyes.

My idea was to use increases and decreases in the same way I do for my fave tam o'shanters.

The tall coned Santa hat is bent over and stitched down, like the other ornaments.
