Quote
"Presently the girls reached a small, concealed building, a one-and-a-half-storied weather-beaten bungalow which stood a short distance from the water's edge. The upper level nestled into the steep, wooded hillside. Since there was no light inside, Nancy assumed no one was there. She knocked. No answer. Nancy tried to open the door. It was locked."
Review
What in the world is Jenny doing reading Nancy Drew, you might ask.

Well, suffice it to say, I've been hanging out in the children's section of the public library. It's funny----when I'm home in Colorado, I suddenly become the de facto nanny to my nieces and nephews. And hence the library. Aunt Jenny likes to push books on the kids, oh I mean cultivate an appreciation for literature.

So while Aunt Jenny waits for said nieces and nephews in the library, she reads what's available.

It's been many, many years since I read Nancy Drew. So, when I saw the entire set on the shelf of the public library, I began reading it all over, as I waited for the kids to do their homework at the library (and afterward play video games which are frowned upon in their home. Yeah, that's Aunt Jenny----I let them do that which is forbidden at home, ha ha).

Reading Nancy Drew as an adult has a surprising effect. I can now truly appreciate the story lines, and the character development and whatnot----things that of course I never thought about as a ten-year-old bookworm.

Really, what's there not to love about Nancy Drew? She's bright and has a nice relationship with her attorney father. Nancy solves mysteries and hence leads a life of adventure. She is well liked and has a fantastic wardrobe. Nancy's got the whole package.
