What an enjoyable read. This book was given to me by a friend----someone who obviously knows me well. Thanks for the book, friend!

If you know nothing of Florence Nightingale and the Crimean War, this book will be plenty educational for you.

If you do, however, know something of that history, then this book will be plenty entertaining for you as it weaves a tale of love and bravery and adventure travel and all that.

There's actually a lot going on in this book, and it's definitely enough to capture and maintain your attention.

The author did a fine job of research. The many detailed passages about Victorian life seem accurate to me.

I especially enjoyed reading about all the sewing being done, and the knitting too. And I enjoyed reading about all the clothes, the beautiful everyday gowns. And I loved the descriptions of London town, a place near and dear to my heart.
