Review
The one interesting thing about this book is the governess theme. In the book, the parson’s daughter becomes a governess (because, well, what else can she do?), not unlike Anne Bronte (1820 - 1849), who was briefly a governess at the Robinsons. Anne's brother, Branwell, was working there at the Robinsons, too, and he had an affair with Mrs. Robinson. This caused quite a stir, as you can imagine, and Branwell was sent home to Haworth and his father's parsonage. This was the beginning of the end for Branwell. He descended into drink and drugs and was basically a ne'er-do-well. I think someone needs to write the story or screenplay of Branwell and his adventures. It would be interesting, entertaining, and the men would undoubtedly be dressed well in their Victorian attire. I can envision it as a movie.
