Blue-and-white Fair Isle tam
Completed in November 2009

I knit this tam while talking with Dad, in the parlor of his cozy home up in the mountains of Colorado, with a roaring fire in the big stone fireplace, and snow falling outside.

It's such the nice knitting atmosphere. Dad and I sit there and talk. Lately, he's been contemplating his next adventure. Some of you know Dad's tendency to roam.

I've been fiddling around with graph paper and colored pencils, trying to see if I can come up with a pattern for a child's tam.

I knit this tam on 3.0mm Addi turbo circs, with Dale of Norway brand "Baby Ull" 100% merino superwash wool. I really, really like this yarn. It's soft and machine washable. Perfect for gift-knitting when you're not entirely confident in the recipient's laundry skill.
